Camtasia Instructions

Click on the bold, red text below to see a screen shot of the step.
  1. The “What do you want to do?” screen will appear
    Select the appropriate box (“Start a new project by recording the screen”) and click “OK”
  2. On the “Screen Recording Setup” screen
    Select the appropriate box for your needs and click “Next”
  3. In the “Recording Options” box
    Select your desired options and click “Next”
  4. In the “Choose Audio Settings” box
    Select your desired options and click “Next”
  5. When the “Begin Recording” screen shows up,
    Select “Disable display acceleration during Capture” and click Finish
    (check “Disable display acceleration during capture”)
  6. Click the red button in the top left-hand corner of the black recording screen to begin recording
  7. Capture the actions you want, then go to the task bar and press F10 to stop recording
    The video will now begin to play so that you can preview it before you produce it. When you are satisfied with the movie, click the “Save” button at the bottom right-hand corner
  8. The “Save Recording” box will open up and you must name and save the video you have created
  9. You will see this window to let you know that it has been created and the Statistics will display
  10. Choose an option (To put it in Bb, you must choose “Produce my video in a shareable format”) and click “OK”
  11. The Production Wizard begins; click “Next”
  12. The Production Wizard screen opens asking “How would you like to produce your video?”.
    Choose “Recommend my production settings” and click “Next”
  13. The “How will you distribute your video?” screen appears; choose a selection (“Web” for inserting in Bb) and click “Next”
  14. The “What type of content does your Timeline include?” screen opens; select the options for your video and click “Next”
  15. The “Optimize for file size or video quality?” screen opens; select an option and click “Next”.
    Another screen opens exactly like this except it is titled “Optimize for file size or audio quality?”
    Select an option and click “Next”
  16. Make a template selection and click “Next”
  17. Name your video and save it to a location of your choice
    Note that the “Organize produced files into sub-folders” box is checked
  18. Your settings will display. Click “Finish”
    You will have to go to the taskbar and “restore” the “Camtasia project – Demo” to finish packaging your movie
  19. If you are satisfied with your movie, click “Next
  20. The “Production Results” screen appears asking “What would you like to do next?”
    For Bb, select “Zip output to send to your web administrator” and click “Finish”
  21. The file opens up for you to view. The six files you see have been compressed into one zipped folder. The zipped folder is the one you will use in Bb.
