Troubleshooting E-mail


Browser Settings

  • Please use the most recent version of Internet Explorer to access your student E-Mail.
    1. Login to your Internet Service Provider (AOL, MSN, etc.), then minimize the window and open Internet Explorer
    2. Download the latest version of Internet Explorer. Windows users can upgrade their version of Internet Explorer by opening it, and selecting Tools>Windows Update from the menu bar.
  • If you are having difficulties logging in, try clearing your cache. Do the following to delete your computer's cache.
    1. Open your web browser
    2. Go to Tools>Internet Options>Temporary Internet Files
    3. Click Delete files
    4. Click Delete Cookies
    5. Go to Settings
    6. Check for newer versions of stored pages
    7. Choose Every visit to the page

Password

  • Your default password is your birth month, day and year in six-digits. This is the same password used for myCVCC and Blackboard. In order to change your password, you must know your 7-digit Customer ID number that was provided to you with your Letter of Acceptance to CVCC.

Attachments

  • How to send an attachment
    1. Open Internet Explorer
    2. Go to http://webmail.email.vccs.edu http://cvcc.my.vccs.edu
    3. Enter your login name (ex. JSmith0003) and password (ex. 010283)
    4. Click the Email link
    5. Click the Compose link
    6. Enter the e-mail address for the person you wish to send the attachment to in the "To:" text box
    7. Compose your e-mail in the large text box
    8. After you have finished composing click on the Spell Check button located at the bottom of the page
    9. If you have a misspelled word, select the correct word from the list of suggestions and click the Change button
    10. When you have returned to the compose e-mail screen click the Attachments button at the bottom of the page
    11. A small window should appear. Select the Browse button
    12. Select the file that you need to attach and click the Open button
    13. Click the Attach File button
    14. Repeat steps 11 – 13 for each file you need to attach
    15. After you have attach all the files you need to send click the Done button
    16. When you are ready to send the e-mail click the Send button
    17. After you are done checking and sending e-mail please be sure to logoff the e-mail system properly. To do so click the logoff link
    18. Click OK when asked “Are you sure you want to logoff?”
  • If you sent an e-mail with an attachment and recipient does not receive the file. Follow these steps
    1. Compose your e-mail
    2. Spell Check your e-mail
    3. Attach your file
*Spell check will remove an attached file. Please be sure to spell check before attaching a file to your e-mail.

Miscellaneous

  • If you see someone else's E-Mail when you login try the following
    - Click the "Logoff" link
    - Click OK for "Are you sure you want to logoff?"
    - Log back in
    You should see your E-Mail, if not try clearing your cache (see Browser Settings)
