Library Express


Let us retrieve your books for you!

The most significant change in library services during the renovation is the addition of our book retrieval service, LIBRARY EXPRESS. During renovation, most books and other library material are in storage. Items requested by students, faculty, and staff will be delivered to the Public Service Desk for pickup.

Guidelines for LIBRARY EXPRESS:

  1. Express Requests (online and phone) and Hold Requests submitted Monday through Thursday will be available no later than 10 a.m. the following day.
  2. Express Requests (online and phone) and Hold Requests submitted on Friday and Saturday will be available no later than 10 a.m. the following Monday.
  3. Books will be held at the Public Service Desk for up to two weeks. Books not picked up by this time will be removed and placed back in the collection.
  4. This service is only available to CVCC students, faculty and staff. Community users may make requests by phone or in person.

Students, faculty, and staff who wish to use LIBRARY EXPRESS to have materials retrieved may do so in one of the following ways:

  1. Express Request

    You may use this online form for simple topic requests. Library staff will do the searching for you and pull three books on your topic that you may review and check out if you wish.

    You may also use this online form to request a specific book title. Library staff will see if it is in the library collection, and if so, will pull it for your review and check out.

  2. Hold Request

    You may wish to do the research yourself! You can use our Online Library Catalog to see what books and other library material are available in the collection. When you see an item you are interested in, you can place a Hold Request; the item will be retrieved and held at the Public Service Desk for you.

    Here are several tools that can assist you in using the Online Library Catalog and placing holds:
  3. Express Request by Phone

    You may call the Library at 832-7750 and request that books on specific topics be placed on hold for you. Library staff will do the searching for you and pull three books on your topic that you may review and check out if you wish.

  4. Visit the Library in Person

    When library users visit in person, books may be retrieved at that time during daytime hours only, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Library users are encouraged to use Express Requests and Hold Requests when possible for their convenience.
